Today we reviewed for the final exam. For the exam you will need to know the following information:

1. How to write a complete paragraph (topic sentences, supporting details, concluding sentence)
2. Define and explain the 5 elements of plot (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution)
3. Select 2 of the 4 traits of writing we have looked at this unit (voice, ideas, word choice, organization) and write a paragraph defining this trait and explaining how you can use it in your writing

Hello Foundation 2 students,

You should know the following by now May 2012:
• Your previous levels’ work.
• To read texts related to unit 3 (shopping ) and unit 4 ( What I like to do )
• So be able to derive and conclude information even if you do not understand the whole text.
• You are not expected to understand every single word in each text you read.
• You should be able to write 90-100 words on the two themes.
• You should be able to speak for 2 minutes about the two themes.
• You should know the vocabulary words in each text of the two themes..

• You should know the following grammatical points:

 All previous grammatical points you have covered in earlier levels.
 Prepositions.
 Present tense verbs.
 Masculine and feminine pronouns and verbs
 Plural and singular of given words.
 Question words.
 Given adjectives.
 Connecting words.

Use your time wisely.

Humanities - Walker - Blocks C and F

After completing our "Island of the Future, Part II" writing activity and sharing, we together decided what are the most important political and physical features that we should include on maps of Mesopotamia and China. Students were given maps and we, as a class, helped fill them in with all the important features we had talked about these two units. These maps will be excellent study tools for the final exam (along with everything else referred to in the review guide). Next week we will continue our reviewing together.

Homework: bring review guide, along with all normal Humanities materials.

6th blog 5-23

ACTIVITIES THIS WEEK:

In class this week we are reviewing for the final exam. The final exam for humanities is Wednesday, May 30th.

We passed out the review sheet and went over it last week. You can download it here if you have lost it: FinalExamReviewGuide2012-6.pdf
(please note that chapter 24 will not be on the test. We did not cover chapter 24 in class).

This week we reflected on all our past summatives for the 3 way conferences. Students received all their past summatives to take home except the ones they reflected on for 3 way conferences. Please review the Mesopotamia summative that you got back.

We spent a day reviewing mapping for ancient Mesopotamia and ancient China. Students received practice blank maps in class that we worked on.

We also received back the formative quiz of chapter 22, emperor Qin! We reviewed his effectiveness as ruler and had a mini debate.

Please continue to review your vocabulary words, understand them, don't just memorize them.

All tigers have a dress down day tomorrow!! Just make sure you wear something orange or yellow to show your HOUSE pride!

All other houses will have a regular HOUSE shirt day. Wear a shirt in the color of your house that follows normal dress code standards.

Block G: Today we look at all of the "Don'ts" in your writing and turned them into "Do"s! You examined your classmates' stories and the common errors in writing that I found in your rough draft. Today was the LAST day for drafting and editing your story. Tomorrow you will be publishing your final draft. If you need additional time to work on your story, or have any questions for me, please come in at lunch, before school, or after school!
